I almost forgot about me being able to blog, ALMOST. Anyways i dont know if all of you are currently still viewing my blog but i thought I'd just type this up to say hello and see whats been happening in the wacky world of Wentworth Falls Tafe (or W.W.W.W.T for short)

It had to happen

Last night I accomplished something that I have been wanting to do for a long long time...

I went home and turned on my computer and every time i turned it on it wouldn't start up, instead it would come up in DOS with a message "Opperating System not found"...computer rage got the best of me and so i unscrewed the computer and took to its guts with a nice thick hammer.

After finishing the job and feeling satisfied that my worthy advesary had been crushed I realised that I better tell everyone that the only time I will be on the computer is at tafe.

Project Initiation - The Project Initiation Phase includes the activities required to initiate a project

Project Planning -The Planning Phase involves the creation of project plans including a Project Plan, Financial Plan, Quality Plan and Risk Plan.

Project Execution - This phase involves the execution of each activity and task listed in the Project Plan

Project Closure - and this is where it all comes together in a neat little package

TIME,COST,QUALITY

These three things all work together to produce a finished product, without one the projet will fall through, they must all be taken into consideration because differnt choices in these variables can lead to differnt outcomes

eg.

if you wanted the job to be done as quickly as possible TIME would go down but COST would go up to supply the tools needed to get it done quicker and in some cases QUALITY might go down

if you didnt want to spend that much on the job the COST and the QUALITY would decrease but the TIME would increase

As you can see these three variables work together to ensure a completed project but depending on how you want it to look like and the end result you have to be careful in how you priorotise them

I, beleive that people are looking at things upside down.....if you win a race do you think that it would be better to get a trophy with a 2 on it or a 1 ?? To my understanding this whole web2.0 thing is just a waste of time.... Well,against my better judgement, I've decided to take a look around the soon-to-be-"outdated" web and see how people feel about this topic of 2.0 and what ideas that might come with it...

Personally, i don't find comfort in any of the business, technological or experiential explanations. Yet, i do believe that a shift is occurring and i find myself emotionally invested in it. So then i had to ask myself: what is Web2.0 and why does it matter? The answer is glocalization.

whilst searching for answers on te internet to answer the question "What is meant by A, AA and AAA accessibility conformance? " i stumbled across a university site which gives in detail the meaning of each of these three terms.

General programming principles

When do we need to learn computer programming to design webpages... isn't HTML and CSS enough?

We need to learn comupter progaming to design webpages to help make our webpage more efficent and user friendly. With the aid of such programing tools as javascript we can get this done by a couple of extra lines of code... An example of javescript is when you enter information into a registration form and leave one of the neccesary fields blank, an alert box will come up and signify that you must type in the required information into that box before you can proceed. This is all done by a different type of code and is a good example of why you sometimes need a bit more then just HTML and CSS .....Sure it can be a pain in the ass but by the end of the day when you cant feel your fingers anymore, it makes it much more worth while for all those end users out there

How can you describe a "variable" to someone who hasn't done programming before?

In simple terms, a varibale is a character or sting of characters that has been designated to do a specific job... for instance

FOR a = 1 TO 10
PRINT " I did this too much in high school"
NEXT a

Obviously the variably is "a" and the function it is performing is printing out "I did this too much in high school" 10 times . A variable is a character(s) that will return a value.

Why do all programming languages have control structures (and what are they anyway?)

Without control structures programs wouldn't understand or be able to process correctly what the programmer wants to happen, when it is to happen, where it is to happen and how it is to happen. In other words, control structures help the program understand what to do and when.
Programing structures are a bunch of predefined identifiers used to help the computer define between different functions that the end user is trying to tell it to do. For example if you were to be writing in Qbasic the code would go something like this
all control structures are underlined to help you see the pattern. The IF statement is the control structure here because it is controling the information and...well...controlling what will come up onto the screen

The alert window is the dot syntax in this case

To start with i think that it was a good interview in respects to it wasnt me who was ready for the interview but the person I was interviewing.
It was a good lesson because instead of just asking the questions straight out I had to go in depth to explain what each question ment and how it would effect the out come of the overall design
I got some good questions from the interview and after that I got some really good pictures around the school to add onto my website.
My overall idea of the website has now changed in regards to my menu, I'll have to change that a bit. They also gave me the school "emblem" picture thing to scan into my webpage which would look really good as a background image.

All in all the interview went really well and helped me realise how much the end user can actually contribute into the design of a web page

1.)Websites constantly change, so if you find that putting in a new navigation button is going to take a lot of work, you have to reconsider your design. You should be able to freely and add and remove elements from your pages with little to no trouble - that only makes sense.

2.)usability is referring to (in web design) how easy someone can get around your website ... how usable is it. If someone has to 'hunt' for your 'home' link or your contact information, then you have a usability problem.

3.)This is one of the oldest rules in the book! People will leave your site like a flash if your site takes over 10 seconds to load on a 56k modem. That means your pages have to be less than 60k - images and all.

4.)it's not hard to find 250k Flash websites! This checklist is just a reminder of what we all know; sometimes in the excitement of building our masterpieces, we can forget ... so check the checklist!

5.)I think this is obvious to most people. All the technology used to build websites are just tools. I would use anything that I could check the validation on and ensure that it meets up to the standard on w3.org.

6.)So people can find out wether the information that is presented on your page is what they are looking for...it usually helps to have a BIG heading

I created this by combinding 4 main files i'll take u through it step by step.......

the water.. I just resised the picture to 512*512

the asparigus...i used the majic wand to select around the outside, then inverse, then feather, then rotate 90 degrees then cut and paste to the water and used free transform to get the position and size right

For jude i have included a link to what a pepper actually looks like.........JUDE THIS IS A PEPPER!
but getting back on track now.....

for the CAPSICUM i used the histogram to change the colour levels, then I took the same steps as the asparagus....

for the fish i just used the majic wand to cut and paste it into the picture, then used the free transform to alter the size then i used the opacity to make it took like it was under the water

Link 1 is obviously a site for all ages with no general problems of accesability or understanding, it is a simple site used just for these pictures, but for me its to bland

Link 2 is targeted at the 2 billion plus players world wide that play halo 2 (xbox videogame) and there is alot more happening on the page to keep it interactive and interesting. The language default is english. The pictures are easily accesible by a single click on a thumbnail image of them.

Link 1 would be more suited for the "general public" where as link 2 is for a specific audience. I believe that it is easier to chose the pictures on my site but that point could be easily debated.

I AM A SMART COOKIE!!!!!!!

INFEDUTAINMENT (C) is my word that i have come up with for a multimedia type that covers all 3 aspects. But when you look at those 3 multimedia areas you can see right away that it is possible to have a combination of 2 or even three (infeducation) areas at the same time.
e.g. A person might have a strong intrest in cooking and go to a certain website. On this website there might be weekly updadted recepies and cooking tips for any people who want to read about them and links to online cooking shows that are able to view , there for, this site would be infeducatious. To explain this i shall provide a breakdown of how each major area has been covered....

Information : The site has new cooking tips unknown to the reader, it is informing them of new recipes and how to cook them
Education : The site educates the reader on cooking tips and ways to use cooking tools efficently
Entertainment : This section covers the users intrests and there for the user would find this site and its links entertaining.

A thought occured to me as I was writing this out...Couldn't we class information and education (more or less) as the same thing ? Another word for being educated in an area is to be informed in an area.

Looking at different media types and ways it can be brought to the user there are so many different ways and they are still growing. From things as basic as a radio all the way up to virtual reality, the scope is so vast and can cover a wide variety of day to day things

A destructive program that masquerades as a benign application. Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive. spyware:
Any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. Spyware applications are typically bundled as a hidden component of freeware or shareware programs that can be downloaded from the Internet; however, it should be noted that the majority of shareware and freeware applications do not come with spyware. Once installed, the spyware monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else. Because spyware is using memory and system resources, the applications running in the background can lead to system crashes or general system instability.

phishing:
The act of sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers, that the legitimate organization already has. As i was looking around the internet for both 56k dialup and broadband deals i noticed a couple of things....

1. that most broadband deals have dramatically come down in price
2. in some cases it is cheaper to get broadband rather then dialup

I have split this assesment into 2 portions to make it easier for everyone to read, the first half is about the broadband internet deals an the second half is about the dialup deals.........
