The Project Initiation Phase includes the activities required to initiate a project

Project Planning -The Planning Phase involves the creation of project plans including a Project Plan, Financial Plan, Quality Plan and Risk Plan.

Project Execution - This phase involves the execution of each activity and task listed in the Project Plan

Project Closure - and this is where it all comes together in a neat little package

TIME,COST,QUALITY

These three things all work together to produce a finished product, without one the projet will fall through, they must all be taken into consideration because differnt choices in these variables can lead to differnt outcomes

eg.

if you wanted the job to be done as quickly as possible TIME would go down but COST would go up to supply the tools needed to get it done quicker and in some cases QUALITY might go down

if you didnt want to spend that much on the job the COST and the QUALITY would decrease but the TIME would increase

As you can see these three variables work together to ensure a completed project but depending on how you want it to look like and the end result you have to be careful in how you priorotise them

Reason 3.0 is here, hold on to your seats !

<img style="float:left; To my understanding this whole web2.0 thing is just a waste of time.... Well, against my better judgement, I've decided to take a look around the soon-to-be-"outdated" web and see how people feel about this topic of 2.0 and what ideas that might come with it...

Personally, i don't find comfort in any of the business, technological or experiential explanations. Yet, i do believe that a shift is occurring and i find myself emotionally invested in it. So then i had to ask myself: what is Web2.0 and why does it matter? The answer is glocalization.
zephoria

I found a good page with STACKS of links on the topic that lead to more pages with links and so on and so on, i figure that there is so many links because no-one has a decent or full understanding of what's in store for them....Shouldn't we have at least a decent idea whats going to happen if it's going to effect us?!

to check with all these differing views heres a link of what people think will happen.
Mostly i found most people felt a bit uncomfortable and uncertain about this "web2.0" mostly because we as the users havent been granted with enough
solid information about it

Im not going to say it's going to be good, im also not saying its going to be bad. It can be a risky practice to employ a professional SEO to help gain more visitors because he/she may use techniques that are deemed bad or "spammy" by search engines and could result in the web site being penalized or banned from a search engine. However SEO is a vital part of designing a web site and when done in a ethical manner should yield results. A favourite saying in SEO circles is that no matter how good a web site is it's useless without visitors, therefore SEO is always required.

Most Important Factors
The following are the top 10 ranked factors across the 5 categories:
Title Tag - 4.57
Anchor Text of Links - 4.46
Keyword Use in Document Text - 4.38
Accessibility of Document - 4.3
Links to Document from Site-Internal Pages - 4.15
Primary Subject Matter of Site - 4.00
External Links to Linking Pages - 3.92
Link Popularity of Site in Topical Community - 3.77
Global Link Popularity of Site - 3.69
Keyword Spamming - 3.69

Search Engine Deception
It’s easy to be lured into the trap of flat-out lying to search engines. This is the realm of link farms, content generators, gateway pages, blog comment spam, and other practices that ignore users’ needs (i.e., relevant, well-organized content) and instead focus on doing whatever it takes to get people in the door.

Search Engine Exaggeration
This is where things start to get a bit shady. Once you realize how search engines work, there’s a great temptation to give them what they want by pumping up the keywords in your text, adding hidden keywords on your pages, etc.
Be Quick

Now By reading the heading you could think of a number of different senarios that i might throw up in order to have a witty and humerous blog but today I'd prefer to try the profesional side of things and talk about photography...

Being quick can be a fundemental aspect of photography depending on what it is you are trying to capture, this rule applies to quick shots such as :

portraits

pictures of wildlife

Family shots ( as much as we all hate those "fake smile" shots

yes the list goes on and on but I think from here you get the type='text'>A, AA, AAA

whilst searching for answers on te internet to answer the question "What is meant by A, AA and AAA accessibility conformance? " i stumbled across a university site which gives in detail the meaning of each of these three terms.

State Univerity of New York

"There are three levels of compliance with WAI standards, Level A, AA and AAA. Each subsequent level is more restrictive than the last."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEVEL A is the least restrictive out of the three and has 12 main guidelines, but I am only goin to point out 3 to give u a breif example :

Avoid the use of colors that may create problems for individuals with color-blindness or for those using older monitors incapable of displaying more than 256 colors

Each page must have the following line as its first line of html code
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

If you use style sheets, make sure that the page can be viewed when style sheets are not applied or supported.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEVEL AA compliance is more stringent, with four additional standards, 2 of these standards include :

Do not use pages that auto-refresh, auto-redirect or links that open pages in new browser windows.

Use proper markup for headings, lists and quotations.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEVEL AAA compliance is strictest of all, with five additional standards beyond Level A and AA standards. Two of these additions stanndards are:

If you use an acronym or an abbreviation, identify its meaning in its first usage.

If you have two links adjacent to each other, place a non-link, printable character between them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again i retrieved this information from State Univerity of New York check it out when youve got some spare time

Web Progaming Introduction Questions

General programming principles

When do we need to learn computer programming to design webpages... isn't HTML and CSS enough?

We need to learn comupter progaming to design webpages to help make our webpage more efficent and user friendly. With the aid of such programing tools as javascript we can get this done by a couple of extra lines of code... An example of javescript is when you enter information into a registration form and leave one of the neccesary fields blank, an alert box will come up and signify that you must type in the required information into that box before you can proceed. This is all done by a different type of code and is a good example of why you sometimes need a bit more then just HTML and CSS .....Sure it can be a pain in the ass but by the end of the day when you cant feel your fingers anymore, it makes it much more worth while for all those end users out there

How can you describe a "variable" to someone who hasn't done programming before?

In simple terms, a varibale is a character or sting of characters that has been designated to do a specific job... for instance

FOR a = 1 TO 10
PRINT " I did this too much in high school"
NEXT a

Obviously the variably is "a" and the function it is performing is printing out "I did this too much in high school" 10 times . A variable is a character(s) that will return a value.

Why do all programming languages have control structures (and what are they anyway?)

Without control structures programs wouldn't understand or be able to process correctly what the programmer wants to happen, when it is to happen, where it is to happen and how it is to happen. In other words, control structures help the program understand what to do and when.
Programing structures are a bunch of predefined identifiers used to help the computer define between different functions that the end user is trying to tell it to do. For example if you were to be writing in Qbasic the code would go something like this
all control structures are underlined to help you see the pattern. The IF statement is the control structure here because it is controling the information and...well...controlling what will come up onto the screen
_________________________________________

001 DIM x AS STRING
002 IF x < 10 THEN
003 PRINT"Welcome to Qbasic"
004 ELSE
005 PRINT "Hi from Qbasic"
006 ENDIF
_________________________________________

Object-Oriented programming principles

What is Object Oriented programming in every-day terms?

I`is a programming language that enables the programmer to associate a set of procedures with each type of data structure

Describe the difference between a property and a method, using an example, analogy or drawing!

property - a value of

method - an action of

xbox - (property)its black, (method) disc tray opens

How does the dot syntax work (eg. window.alert() )

firstly it reads from left to right and in that order can figure out what you are telling it to do, in that example it reads that the programmer wants a window to appear, so it knows that much now it goes on to see what sort of window, is it a new window a copy of an existing opened window an alert window etc. So it reads that there is a new window to be brough up in the form of an alert window. The alert window is the dot syntax in this case

Provide examples of 3 objects used in Javascript Web programming, with some corresponding properties and values for each object

document :

.getElementById
.write
.close

select :

.add
.blur
.focus

window :

.alert()
.open

.moveBy(x,y)

Web Programming languages

Investigate 3 of the following languages, identifying features, pro's and con's etc.

php
asp
ruby on rails
jsp

php

Personal Home Page
PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The goal of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically generated pages quickly.

asp

  Active Server Pages
Active Server Pages. A specification that enables Web pages to be dynamically created using HTML, scripts, and reusable ActiveX server components. It is an HTML page that includes one or more scripts (small embedded programs) that are processed on a Microsoft Web server before the page is sent to the user.

jsp

Java Server Pages

Java Server Page (JSP) is a technology for controlling the content or appearance of Web pages through the use of servlet s, small programs that are specified in the Web page and run on the Web server to modify the Web page before it is sent to the user who requested it. Sun Microsystems, the developer of Java, also refers to the JSP technology as the Servlet application program interface (API).

Interview with KL-PS

To start with i think that it was a good interview in respects to it wasnt me who was ready for the interview but the person I was interviewing.
It was a good lesson because instead of just asking the questions straight out I had to go in depth to explain what each question ment and how it would effect the out come of the overall design
I got some good questions from the interview and after that I got some really good pictures around the school to add onto my website.
My overall idea of the website has now changed in regards to my menu, I'll have to change that a bit. They also gave me the school "emblem" picture thing to scan into my webpage which would look really good as a background image.

All in all the interview went really well and helped me realise how much the end user can actually contribute into the design of a web page

cog

some cog that jude cares about

oggely boogely!

1.)Websites constantly change, so if you find that putting in a new navigation button is going to take a lot of work, you have to reconsider your design. You should be able to freely and add and remove elements from your pages with little to no trouble - that only makes sense.

2.)usability is referring to (in web design) how easy someone can get around your website ... how usable is it. If someone has to 'hunt' for your 'home' link or your contact information, then you have a usability problem.

3.)This is one of the oldest rules in the book! People will leave your site like a flash if your site takes over 10 seconds to load on a 56k modem. That means your pages have to be less than 60k - images and all.

4.)it's not hard to find 250k Flash websites! This checklist is just a reminder of what we all know; sometimes in the excitement of building our masterpieces, we can forget ... so check the checklist!

5.)I think this is obvious to most people. All the technology used to build websites are just tools. I would use anything that I could check the validation on and ensure that it meets up to the standard on w3.org.

6.)So people can find out wether the information that is presented on your page is what they are looking for...it usually helps to have a BIG heading

7.)Once again BIG heading and short summary of your website in the first paragraph

8.)these re all the adatives for 4th generation aswell as all the stuff from 3rd generation
* The proper use of markup (HTML): only structural tags in the HTML, use of CSS, proper use of structural tags in the layout (<h> tag order in a document for example).
* Respect to usability in web site design: using proven layouts
* Search engine aware web pages and web site.
* Well structured - easily updateable.
* Automatically printable with CSS media type linked CSS files.

9.)Just a standard computer and an Internet connection so that you can put (upload) your websites onto the web - this assuming you want to get your websites on the web.

10.)the size of the images in terms of file size

11.)under 60k (kilobytes)

12.)where u optimise an image - making our images as light as possible without making them look ugly

13.)such as in photoshop when we click "save for web" we take away as much un-needed colour as possible without making tem look to blotchy.

14.)wether it is an animation or not

15.)yes, new talent is always appreciated if someone can find an easier or more efficent way to do something

OHHHHHHHH BABY

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Time to start documenting, think of me as you client, I need to know where you are at and how you are progressing. Write a brief synopsis describing what your presentation will be about.
Next define the Aim and Purpose. Make the goals for your project: Specific Measurable Achievable Relevant Time-framedContent.

Finally - for today, tell me about your target audience, here are some pointers:

Age
Gender
Education
Computer Literacy
Single userGroup user
Researcher
Buyer
Seller
Current affairs
Sports fans
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My target audience does not have any specific age or gender, it is for anyone who can appreciate street art and not automatically dismiss it just because it has been done with an aersol can. Consider Multimedia you are familiar with – list an example of one of each of the above on your blog.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I AM A SMART COOKIE!!!!!!!

INFEDUTAINMENT (C) is my word that i have come up with for a multimedia type that covers all 3 aspects. But when you look at those 3 multimedia areas you can see right away that it is possible to have a combination of 2 or even three (infeducation) areas at the same time.
e.g. A person might have a strong intrest in cooking and go to a certain website. On this website there might be weekly updadted recepies and cooking tips for any people who want to read about them and links to online cooking shows that are able to view , there for, this site would be infeducatious. To explain this i shall provide a breakdown of how each major area has been covered....

Information : The site has new cooking tips unknown to the reader, it is informing them of new recipes and how to cook them
Education : The site educates the reader on cooking tips and ways to use cooking tools efficently
Entertainment : This section covers the users intrests and there for the user would find this site and its links entertaining.

A thought occured to me as I was writing this out...Couldn't we class information and education (more or less) as the same thing ? Another word for being educated in an area is to be informed in an area.

Looking at different media types and ways it can be brought to the user there are so many different ways and they are still growing. From things as basic as a radio all the way up to virtual reality, the scope is so vast and can cover a wide variety of day to day things

Acronymns and Web Talk

Virus :
A program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are manmade. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/v/virus.html
12/03/05

Worm :
(1) A program or algorithm that replicates itself over a computer network and usually performs malicious actions, such as using up the computer's resources and possibly shutting the system down. Also see virus.

Also see The Difference Between a Virus, Worm and Trojan Horse in the Did You Know? section of Webopedia.

(2) When used in all capital letters, WORM is an acronym for for write once, read many, an optical disk technology that allows you to write data onto a disk just once. After that, the data is permanent and can be read any number of times.

Unlike CD-ROMs, there is no single standard for WORM disks, which means that they can only be read by the same type of drive that wrote them. This has hampered their acceptance, although they have found a niche market as an archival media.

WORM is also called CD-R.

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/w/worm.html
12/03/05

Trojan Hourse:
A destructive program that masquerades as a benign application. Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive. One of the most insidious types of Trojan horse is a program that claims to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces viruses onto your computer.

The term comes from the a Greek story of the Trojan War, in which the Greeks give a giant wooden horse to their foes, the Trojans, ostensibly as a peace offering. But after the Trojans drag the horse inside their city walls, Greek soldiers sneak out of the horse's hollow belly and open the city gates, allowing their compatriots to pour in and capture Troy.

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/T/Trojan_horse.html
12/03/05

spyware:
Any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. Spyware applications are typically bundled as a hidden component of freeware or shareware programs that can be downloaded from the Internet; however, it should be noted that the majority of shareware and freeware applications do not come with spyware. Once installed, the spyware monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else. Spyware can also gather information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers.

Spyware is similar to a Trojan horse in that users unwittingly install the product when they install something else. A common way to become a victim of spyware is to download certain peer-to-peer file swapping products that are available today.

Aside from the questions of ethics and privacy, spyware steals from the user by using the computer's memory resources and also by eating bandwidth as it sends information back to the spyware's home base via the user's Internet connection. Because spyware is using memory and system resources, the applications running in the background can lead to system crashes or general system instability.

Because spyware exists as independent executable programs, they have the ability to monitor keystrokes, scan files on the hard drive, snoop other applications, such as chat programs or word processors, install other spyware programs, read cookies, change the default home page on the Web browser, consistently relaying this information back to the spyware author who will either use it for advertising/marketing purposes or sell the information to another party.

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/s/spyware.html
12/03/05
adware:
(1) A form of spyware that collects information about the user in order to display advertisements in the Web browser based on the information it collects from the user's browsing patterns.

Also see The Difference Between Adware & Spyware in the Did You Know...? section of Webopedia.

(2) Software that is given to the user with advertisements already embedded in the application.

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/a/adware.html
12/03/05

phishing:
The act of sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers, that the legitimate organization already has. The Web site, however, is bogus and set up only to steal the users information. For example, 2003 saw the proliferation of a phishing scam in which users received e-mails supposedly from eBay claiming that the users account was about to be suspended unless he clicked on the provided link and updated the credit card information that the genuine eBay already had. Because it is relatively simple to make a Web site look like a legitimate organizations site by mimicking the HTML code, the scam counted on people being tricked into thinking they were actually being contacted by eBay and were subsequently going to eBays site to update their account information. By spamming large groups of people, the phisher counted on the e-mail being read by a percentage of people who actually had listed credit card numbers with eBay legitimately.

Phishing, also referred to as brand spoofing or carding, is a variation on fishing, the idea being that bait is thrown out with the hopes that while most will ignore the bait, some will be tempted into biting.

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/p/phishing.html
12/03/05

spam:
Electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings. Some people define spam even more generally as any unsolicited e-mail. However, if a long-lost brother finds your e-mail address and sends you a message, this could hardly be called spam, even though it's unsolicited. Real spam is generally e-mail advertising for some product sent to a mailing list or newsgroup.

In addition to wasting people's time with unwanted e-mail, spam also eats up a lot of network bandwidth. Consequently, there are many organizations, as well as individuals, who have taken it upon themselves to fight spam with a variety of techniques. But because the Internet is public, there is really little that can be done to prevent spam, just as it is impossible to prevent junk mail. However, some online services have instituted policies to prevent spammers from spamming their subscribers.

There is some debate about the source of the term, but the generally accepted version is that it comes from the Monty Python song, "Spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam" Like the song, spam is an endless repetition of worthless text. Another school of thought maintains that it comes from the computer group lab at the University of Southern California who gave it the name because it has many of the same characteristics as the lunchmeat Spam:

* Nobody wants it or ever asks for it.
* No one ever eats it; it is the first item to be pushed to the side when eating the entree.
* Sometimes it is actually tasty, like 1% of junk mail that is really useful to some people.

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/s/spam.html

IMPORTANT

Jude, I'm at Strathfeild at the moment an the computer I am using is unable to open up the link that you set for the "Acronymns and Web Talk" I will try and have it done before teusday but I'll need to find out what the problem is with this computer. prepaid MBs - excess rate )

(1) aaNet - $70 - 8GBs - $3/GB
(2) Exetel - $60 - 12GBs - N/A
(3) Root32 - $80 - no limit - N/A

contracts :
All plans came up with a 6 month contract.

Now for dialup, this is alot harder to find these days because its pretty much old news too everyone but the 3 companies that I found were the two large phone companies, Optus an Telstra, and I also found Ozemail which also supplys dialup

These were the plans i came accross :

(1) Telstra -
http://www.bigpond.com/internet-plans/dialup/personal/
Internet Ultimate Plan
1 mailbox
Unlimited hours5 (up to 10 hours per session) and unlimited downloads5
$28.95 per month$24.95 per month on a 12 month contract plan4
Ideal for when you want to use the net as much as you please without keeping an eye on hours or megabytes.

(2) Optus -
http://www.optus.com.au/portal/site/WOCA/menuitem.6d6045a9259bfcca9b2e6decc00345a0/?vgnextoid=6718c9d1db8bef00VgnVCM10000029a67c0aRCRD&vgnextchannel=c7c9b5831cf2cf00VgnVCM1000006801540aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default
75 Hours
$44.95
75 hours† NOW 150 HOURS
* Or 60 days Internet connectivity, whichever comes first.† Or 45 days Internet connectivity, whichever comes first.Pricing includes GST, unless otherwise stated.

(3) Ozemail -
http://homesite.service.ozemail.com.au/products/dial/index_html#homeplans
OzEfreedom+
$29.95
Unlimited hours and unlimited downloads
N/A

contracts : all of these deals have a 12 month contract plus dial up connection fees

internet an all that stuff

http://www.widgets.co.nz
http: hyper text
www : world wide web
widgets : domain name
co : (tld) top level domain name
nz : (tldcc) top level domain name country code

this site would be a web page for a company based over in New Zealand.
